Hi everyone!

I received my 1/4" sling in healthy condiction this past Wednesday. Upon putting in in its environment it did hide under some cork bark as expected, but later on, in the day it burrowed and had completely blocked off the opening made from the cork bark. Its Friday today and it's still hasn't come out since to my knowledge? Is it possibly in premolt right now? I haven't fed it yet but I do not want to disturb it because it's completely isolated itself. I've read that this particular species likes to burrow but i find it odd that when making the burrow it didn't leave a small hole for an entrance? Fortunately, there is a small window in its burrow which I can peak through and the sling seems to be moving just fine.

What do you guys think?

Mine was closer to 1/2" when I got it. It ate once then sealed off a little spiderling hide I had bought for it. Two months later I was sure it had died. I lifted the hide up and it was just sitting there doing spider stuff. Two weeks after that I came home to find a freshly molted sling sitting on top of it's hide. It'll be fine.

As said leave it alone and Im sure it will be fine. As you can see through the side of the enclosure you know its alive so no need to worry. It will come out when its hungry or molted if its pre molt. Just be sure to keep a water dish in the enclosure to keep it hydrated.

I think you probably put it in a too bigger enclosure and that's why it is burrowing away to feel safe. This isn't necessarily bad but you won't be able to monitor it properly, it also won't feed and grow as well as it would have in a small 1oz or 2oz deli cup.
You could certainly prove me wrong and show me a picture of your well-sized container. ;)

If you only got them a few days ago, then they are still adjusting. It's a big deal for them to be transported and then find themselves in a completely alien environment. Let them settle in and leave them alone for now.

the deli cup I have is acc a 2oz deli cup! Quick update though the sling has been very active; but i do appreciate this advice! I'll keep this in mind when I have to move my sling into a bigger enclosure once it gets bigger.

Thanks :)
