But falconensis sounds so much cooler. ;) I think, sleek bird of prey, when I hear falconensis. What does magnimanus conger up?

Hey Koh :) I haven't been keeping track... but 4th instar would fit the time frame. Few more molts to go... cant wait to get them all together in a colony.

I only have 5; hoping I end up with a pair. Then there will be lots ;)

magnimanus sure turns up more info on these guys, thnx

If you have 5, the chance of having both sexes is somewhat above 90%, given the 1:1-2 male-female ratio of this species. ;) No problem :)

Update :)
There getting big... And since I haven't been tracking there molts I really have no idea if they're adult.

I made a "Ruler" of sorts. Marking every Centimeter.

And here are a few shots that I thought turned out pretty good.

Hi,

Males typically molt at instar 5, in a few occasions in instar 6. When the males molt at instar 6, they have nice bulbous chela, in instar 5 the difference is less pronouced. Females always molt in instar 6. When I see your pics, I think that is an instar 5 male.

Cheers, Michiel

Hi,

You can even sex them by instar, instar 6= female, instar 5= male, but like I said, some males also reach instar 6, but you would notice, because of their size and level of sexual dimorphism they exhibit.....
This species is very prolific, 1-4 broods after a single succesfull insemination, so be carefull what you wish for!:D

Cheers, Michiel
