From what I've learned, many of the jumpers hibernating are usually sub adults and juveniles. Mating occurs in the fall and the spiders mature in the spring so I don't think you will have much luck finding any egg sacks. Like someone else mentioned, the like to make their nests up high so check the upper corners of your door jams and inside the jams of any screen doors or windows. I've also heard of people finding them in garden sheds, garages, and mailboxes during the winter. They sleep at night so if they're warm enough that they're not hibernating, you're most likely to see them wandering around and looking for food during the day. Mine is most active in the morning. I hope you find one. If not, I'm sure you will find plenty come spring.

I never would have seen her but we had a big snowstorm and she came inside. I'm actually really afraid of spiders but I figured that if I put her outside she probably wasn't going to survive and if I left her be, she might starve or my husband would squish her. So I got her an enclosure and have been keeping her fed. I've really grown to enjoy having her around. Plus I've been researching spiders so that I can help her thrive. It's all been great for helping me to overcome my fears.

Here's a pic of Ichabod when I first found her on the side of my door.
Awe! She’s so cute! And it seems that jumpers are helping a lot of people get over their fears! I’m not scared of any spiders, really. But that said I’m only interested in keeping jumpers, velvets, and trapdoors. I’m starting with jumpers though haha!
In the past I’ve had snakes and reptiles but since discovering the big jumpers I’ve been obsessed!

Velvet spiders are so beautiful! I'm probably too scared to ever keep one but I love watching videos of them.

I don't like to remove loose bark from trees, I find them on buildings, under siding, in the cracks between my screen door and the frame, and in woodpiles pretty frequently. Although this year I haven't seen as many for some reason.
Nice, I do definitely look in those places more. And I would only lift the bark of a dead tree, and even then, not all of it because it does provide shelter.
