yes, only males have that coloration, the females are a rather dull (ime) brown, sometimes with two faint pinkish halfmoon markings on the carapace. i had one once - what a hairkicker. i was so senitive to her hairs that i just thought a brown spider was not worth all the itching hell i was going through when even changing the water.
My Pamphobeteus sp. (thought it was Ecudor sp.2 though looks exactly like the one pictured, anyway...) likes it on the humid side (will start to go into the death curl if things start to get dry). He is very skittish and readily kicks hairs (one of the worse I've experienced, will cause large welts on my arms immediately), though is voracious eater and is a beauty to look at.
