Things to know about spider hibernation?

I've just got a wolf-spider as a pet, and it's my first spider. I have absolutely no idea when wolf-spiders begin to hibernate, or what I can do to make sure everything goes right. I keep the container inside, and my room is somewhat cold-ish. Does the spider instinctively know that it needs to hibernate at a certain time, or does it just not since it never gets to freezing in my room? I'm having a hard time finding information on spiders' hibernation habits, especially indoors.

I've kept wolf spiders in captivity for a couple of years now, and mine never hibernate. Because the room is kept nice and warm and is artificially lit, they don't get the cues (like cooler temperatures and shorter days) that would trigger hibernation. They prowl around their enclosures and feed year-round.

I know that some widow keepers put their widows in the refrigerator during the wintertime.
