The Rainbow Bridge
Author Unknown
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the rainbow bridge because of it's many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be separated.

This was on my Memorial Certificate of Cremation for my dog. It makes me tear up everytime I read it :( . He was truly one of my BEST friends and I miss him very much. My dog passed away in 05' but I was just thinking about him and thought I would share this poem with everyone. If anyone has pics or other poems, or just want to share something about their pets that have passed away please feel free to post here.

Just put down my Boxer and Springer just last week. They were just months shy of being 14 and 16. It's very hard I know

Sorry to hear that JColt. At 14 and 16 they lived a nice long life at least. Again, I am sorry you had to do that and definately know how heartbreaking it is!

Yes it is. I cried like a baby. Still look around and think they need to go out. Gonna be awhile before I get another. Here's a poem a friend sent me

MY GIFT TO JESUS
I WISH SOMEONE HAD GIVEN LITTLE JESUS A DOG
AS LOYAL AND LOVING AS MINE
TO SLEEP BY HIS MANGER AND GRAZE IN HIS EYES
AND ADORE HIM FOR BEING DIVINE.

AS OUR LORD GREW TO MANHOOD. HIS OWN FAITHFUL DOG
WOULD HAVE FOLLOWED HIM ALL THROUGH THE DAY
WHILE HE PREACHED TO THE CROWDS AND MADE THE SICK WELL
AND KNELT IN THE GARDEN TO PRAY.

IT IS SAD TO REMEMBER THAT CHRIST WENT AWAY
TO FACE DEATH ALONE AND APART.
WITH NO TENDER DOG FOLLOWING CLOSE BEHIND
TO COMFORT ITS MASTER'S HEART.

AND WHEN JESUS ROSE ON THAT EASTER MORN,
HOW HAPPY HE WOULD HAVE BEEN
AS HIS DOG KISSED HIS HAND AND BARKED ITS DELIGHT
FOR THE ONE WHO DIED FOR ALL MEN!

WELL, THE LORD HAS A DOG NOW; I JUST SENT HIM MINE,
THE OLD PALS SO DEAR TO ME.
AND I SMILE THROUGH MY TEARS ON THIS FIRST DAY ALONE,
KNOWING THEY'RE IN ETERNITY.

I have had dogs all my life but that special dog I had for about 6 months. She was a golden/lab. She really touched my heart. She got hit by a truck because she went on the street with another one I had just gotten.

So little time with my Missy. She followed me everywhere. At the computer, she laid at my feet. Slept on the floor near my bed. Watched tv with me, reading, everywhere. Even when I was taking my bath at night.

I often think about her and I still miss her. She was a real joy for me to have around. Same thing with my Beauty. A rescued greyhound. I had her for longer though. A nice 4 years. Every day was a joyful day...

Here are some pics:
This was near my computer. The other with Nemo. A rescued shitsu.

This is Beauty. One heck of a dog. Never had to put her on a leash. She was my velcro:

I do miss them alot but I got nice memories...

Boanerges, I remember this came up on another thread. I do not have pics I can post, but I lost my bestest buddy 4-4-07. Out of all the animals I have owned, he was the closest. Baby Kitten was a black, flat-nosed, Persian runt, with a pink tongue that always stuck out and glowing gold eyes. Extremely intelligent and very loving. During the 13 years I had him, I went through some of the toughest times in my life, and like the best friend he was, he was always there when I needed him. I have a gold and Tanzanite ring I wear on my right hand with his inscription and date engraved on the inside and I will NEVER take it off. I have gone so far as to name a dog I got a year ago BK in memory. And you know what, it paid off. BK is the most loving dog I have ever owned. I don't believe in reincarnation, but......... Enough said.

You've been a loyal friend through all these years
And we'll miss you every day
And though you're not with us, you're still in our hearts
And forever there you will stay.

And so you've moved from this world into another
Where you can be happy and free,
Where steaks grow on trees near Bacardi streams
And there's milk bones as far as you see.

There will be rocks to chase and places to swim,
All the things that you loved to do
And though time will pass, we won't forget
Our loveable, softhearted Brew.

I wrote this after our beloved Black Lab passed away, I keep it in a frame with a picture of him standing in a river dripping water in the sunshine. Aww, now I'm gonna cry.:(
