Hi,
I live in a place where Lycosas are a very common spiders, you can find it all most everywhere and a friend of mine found this one in his bedroom, and I can honestly say it’s the biggest ones I have ever seen, she’s about 11cm(leg to leg), that scale behind her it’s in cm.

Hi

This is a male of the giant fishing spider Ancylometes (A. rufus, A.spec. oyapok, A.spec roura, A. spec. manaus or what ever!)
They even get much bigger than that one!

Hi,

Andi is most def right with his id.

I might add, that in my opinion that specimen isn´t by far adult. Keep him and you´ll see, what "big" really means...;)

May i ask in which part of brazil you found this spider? Ancylometes are often related to water surfaces (streams, ponds and therelike). Expect that specimen to grow to something like > 15cm legspan...

Greetings,

Stefan

Hi,

I thought it was a Lycosa.

I Live in Araxá, Minas Gerais, Brasil, I think that friend of mine found it inside his bedroom and I don’t think there’s water near his house.

About their venom, is it dangerous??

It can get as bigger as it wants to.

Hi again

I forgot to say to you that you will please put that spider into water and far away from the sand! Please do that, ok?
You will have lots of found and many interesting things to see with this spider and it will get two times that big in the following 6 to 8 Month!

Hi again,

yeah, quite sure it is an Ancylometes.

You can feed insects, fish, small lizards or frogs, tadpoles etc...

Hi,
I think I’m going to change it to other tank, this tank I can put some water and there’s a little island as part of the tank.

Tanks for all the info Stefan and Blackrose.
