I'm back after a long hiatus. Unlike my first rodeo, I now live in a small apartment so it will be a small collection.

Let's start with what just came in the mail today, female P. metallica about 3.5".

This is the enclosure. I tried to make it bio-active so we'll see how things go.

She went straight to the top...

... then decided to come down... :shy:

... and finally found the hiding cork bark area I so painstakingly designed. :smirk:

Nice...she's a real gem!

What made you decide to go bio with this particular species' set-up?
Also, I am absolutely captivated by that spider... congrats on your acquisition.

Thanks.
Pokies can tolerate humidity and as an arboreal, it won't dig up the substrate and/or crush the plants while moving about.
I'm keeping it very simple for now just to get my feet wet again and then hopefully once she grows a bit more, I'll upgrade her to something big and proper.

Look who came out this morning to greet me! :smirk:

Conveniently did ventral sexing and it says male so I contacted the seller who agreed that once he/she molts, we can sex it more accurately and if it is a male then they will refund / send me a replacement if there's another P. met in stock. I'm quite zen about the gender though. I still think it's a male so I'll name it Lars.

For what it's worth, I agree this is a male spider.

"Rehomed" a 7" female Lasiodora parahybana.

I spent hours making a really nice hide for her and guess what, she decides to just sit on top of it.

Closer look. The pro of getting a big T is you don't need macro lens haha.

My P.metallica ate an isopod and couldn't get rid of the undigested carcass. It then got spooked and sprinted out of the tank (hence why it's in a plastic cup in the pic)

Put it back in the tank and it finally got rid of the carcass after a lot of grooming.

Featuring today: my new M. balfouri communal tank.
2015416543333147.jpg

These T's have a major tendency to go arboreal when introduced to a new environment.

This one actually managed to escape when I wasn't looking. It's fortunate that I had a premonition and trusted my hunch to check below the tank and voila, it was hiding underneath.

And of course, it's a communal so I have to end with a pic with more than 1 T in the view.

Holothele longipes (ex sanguiniceps) aka Trinidad Pink.

Beautiful pattern on the carapace with that Holothele-shaped abdomen (that probably is the reason the H. incei became the N. incei, it has a different abdomen shape).
Still don't understand why it's called Trinidad PINK.

This little one favourite activity is running in circle around the enclosure.
