I don't think they can GET cancer, can they? What kind of lumps does your T have and where are they? Do you have photos? What species and how large is it?
Bro ive never seen cancer in a T over a lot of yrs. Ive seen knots/lumps caused by fungal infections, and parasites. Ive even seen the black rot once on a T though this is usually something only crabs lobsters shrimp etc get. And a unidentified glugea type blood parasite but the only lumps ive ever seen were parasitic or fungal in nature. Where are the lumps located and are they stationary or do they move or convulse? And are they increasing in size?
I´ve not got lumps on my tarantula myself but I have seen a photo of a tarantula (Not sure how old it is or what spec) with a clear lump on the abdomen (Top side. You could clearly see it as it had shed its urticating at the point where te lump is).
The owner has put it down to a form of cancer? It is not a parasite im sure ,but then who knows!
I only started this thread to see if anyone else has had experience with this or knows anything about it etc.Thank you for the replys so far (Its more than I have got on some other sites lol).
Please if you do have any thories or even know the cause please post it.
Cheers
the only thing I can think of would be a parasite. And it's usually really gross. The tarantula goes to molt, and the parasite emerges....from the abdomen.
Not a pretty sight.
Darrin at Golden Phoenix Exotica used to have a page on his website with a photo, but I don't think it's there anymore.
Sorry, it may not be relevant, but it's the only thing I can think of
