Taming The Tokays....

Funny thing... I do have a good pair of gloves that I just retired from my bout with a fiesty little rattie girl I adopted a few months ago. She is no longer slash biting, so I have the gloves put away somewhere... but I will be taking them with me to pick up my new Tokays next week And thanks, everyone!

P.s. Wolfy, if the shipping and all isn't too bad, I'd still like for you to put me on a waiting list and we can see what comes of it. I've done transhipping with fish from Thailand, so it should be possible with herps from Canada.

I hate to use myself as a Test Subject, But my Female Tokay Tagged me yesterday, Here's a pretty good example of a GOOD tokay bite :razz: It's Not as bad as it looks, and she's a good 1.5 footer...Pretty big for a female sorry bout the pic quality, forgot my camera and I'm kinda at work so it came from my phone....

That's What Makes Tokay's Fun! I think its the Barking that I get more of a Kick out of....Just amuses me, but occasionaly she does slip a bit and gets a hold of me....Nothing too serious though, They make hand Sanitizer for a reason

I've found that when bitten, if you let them go, or set them down on solid ground they will release thier grip. It's when you struggle or try to pry them lose the bite gets bad, not to mention the risk of damaging their jaws and teeth...

I love Tokays- there is something about that huge gaping black mouth and deep throaty bark that wins me over every time

Ive been bitten before- I guess my guy wasnt as hard core as yours though, I didnt end up bleeding!

C/B babies

Here are some C/B babies for you, almost 60 days old, I cant believe how fast they grow, almost give veilds and beardeds a run for the money, as far as tame, they have their days and personalities, its just nice that the bites arent as attention getting as their parents, makes it a bit easier to try and work w/ them when your not dripping blood from your hands! they are awsome geckos though and a large adult is an impressive site indeed, PEACE B.

Oooo... thanks for sharing those pics! I'm going to pick up my little 'stinker' today, hopefully. (It finally stopped raining and the temp was somewhat reasonable, so my friend was able to get it for me... he's a cyclist).
From the phone description, "he" was the biggest and best looking one in the viv, and the most colorful. "He" didn't draw blood, but he did readily show his disgust at being disturbed.

I can't wait!! I'll try to get my friend to take some pics while I'm there, as my own digcam won't play nice with my new pc (software conflicts or something).


...and yes, I will be taking my gloves along this time.

Woohoooo Eggs at last....

Goin through the typical tank maint and misting yesterday, glanced up and to my utter and pleasant surprise right there at eye level,, two beautiful little Tokay eggs glued to the side of the tank, I was elated
