There is a scene in the new Harry Potter movie with a tailess whip scorpion. I figure it was enhanced with CGI, but I was wondering if anyone knew what they used.

It was still kool to see a whipscorpion in the movie though. The people I was with weren't even aware that it was based a real animal - they thought it was one of JK Rowlings magical creatures {D It was also funny to hear Mad Eye say that their bite is deadly. Hehehe sure.

The whipscorpion in the movie was said to have a 'deady bite" but I think that was just a remark by the character in the movie to frighten the students.

As for the size, i"m not sure how big tailless whips get but obviously the one in the movie was a CGI. No tailless whips were harmed in the making of the movie....however you can see some get eaten during Fear Factor and such.

And of course Mad-Eye uses the engorgio charm to make the whipscorpions easier for the students to see. ;)
