T acts like in premolt but very active?

My curly hair has buried herself inside her log hide, and left a small opening in the back end she will crawl out of! She has a tiny bald spot, and does many things like she's going to molt, but will still eat, drink, and come out of her hide at least once a week. Is this normal?

I just leave her alone for a while. She could be in premoult. I've had tarantulas feed near the time they moulted.

There's no need to do regular deep cleans of enclosures unless there's a catastrophic mite/mould infestation, just spot clean and change water as needed. Substrate doesn't really go bad.

Some people have had their tarantulas on the same substrate for over a decade without issue, the whole "deep clean the enclosure every 6-12 months" thing is a carry-over from reptiles.
