Superworm Beetles Cannibalism And Grouping

My superworms keep grouping up, I still don't see any breeding. I found a female eating a new female. When I removed the victim the fucker went for another new female so I out it in its own area. Why are they cannibalising and why are they grouping up and what is that thing coming out of the beetle's abdomen in the last photo? Is it an egg? It is a female.

They will eat beetles that are not hardened, perhaps giving them a protein source like some dog kibble might help but it's a common behavior. I keep the fresh one separate until they are dark.
You could add more hiding places for them, maybe they are grouping trying to hide.

what is that thing coming out of the beetle's abdomen in the last photo
it looks like the wing isn't folded properly or could be a piece of the skin from when it emerged, I don't think you need to do anything about it. Eggs are very small and are not laid in an ootheca
