ok i wanna make a terrarium with some WC N. americanus [i can get my own from outside :D ] and some possibly WC isopods and some CB g. portentosa. i have 2 questions,
1) are these all compatible living in the same tank?

2) what can i do to make sure i don't get mites [and if the WC 'pedes have them, how to get rid of them]

thanks :)

you may not want to place millipedes and isopods in the same cage, as they may compete for the same food sources. a few may not hurt, but they can breed fairly rapidly if given the right conditions.

i personally would not place hissers in with a north american species of milli, but i suppose it could be and is being done. i have never kept the americanus so i can't comment on their care, though i'm sure they are similar to most millipedes being kept in the hobby: warm and moist?

mites are easy enough to get rid of. just rinse them off with tepid water, or just wipe them off with a small paint brush or something of the kind. but a few won't hurt anything.

Isopods and millipedes live very hormoniuosly in nature, I don't see why it would be a problem if the did eat the same thing if you fed them ampily. They breed protilthicly in my roach tank and seem to do more good than harm at all.
