went and brought some extra vermiculite today from a pet store and was putting it into a new terrarium when i noticed something moving Mites was not very pleased so when you buy any substrate check it first. oh and sorry to hear about your loss redbadger

It's pretty odd for verm to be carrying mites...it's inorganic and a mineral! I'd take it back, either it's not pure vermiculite, or else it's sat around wet long enough that other organisms (like mold) have moved in, therby supporting the mites.
