Waiting...

having co-habbed a pair before I felt comfortable doing it again. The male was pretty fresh, the female had molted fairly recently. I fed her up, and intro'ed the male ( no way to possibly try and put them together and supervise). A week or so later I found a little 'male ball' in the tank...Hope he got the job done..

My male lasted only one night with her and she laid a sac for me this past weekend! I thought she might not be big enough, only 5 inches but I was wrong. Best of luck to you!

Two males eaten about a month apart.

She plumped up a lot, but plenty of time after she munched the male so I knew it wasn't from eating him (them)

and a month/month and a half later I have a sac that she's guarding like a rabid dog.

fingers crossed :)

Good luck! My female laid **and ate** her first sac and has now produced a 2nd sac. We're into our 2nd week but she ate the last one at nearly 3 weeks :wall: Di

11-11-11
Female getting very fat, doing some remodeling, heavy webbing.

Checked every night for a sac. She laid it where I couldn't see it, so I found her on 1-4-12 with 2nd instar slings.
1-5-12 Caught the female in a deli cup, and started catching slings in vials. Took 3 1/2 hours to get them all

Total of 109 2nd instar. 1 1st instar. 4 2nd instars that were stuck in molts.

A total of 114 slings. Female still looking very plump, expecting another sac. 2-1-12 Female molted! Got lucky on this one.

Here are some pics of the female, sac, and a few 2nd instar slings.

Adult female last molted 25/11/13
I received a mature male from Anthony Killick on a 50/50 breeding loan
Early February 2013. I fed my AF a few large Dubia roaches and let the mm do a sperm web.I introduced him on 8/2/13.They got straight at it and I noticed a quick insert and then the AF killed him before I could intervene.
A few weeks later one of my own S.calceatum males matured so I waited until he had done a sperm web and out him in for the night just to make sure she had been mated. He was also eaten by morning time.
For the next six weeks the AF was kept on the bottom shelf at around 76'f and fed her usual Dubia roach every week to ten days.
Late march I started feeding her more and put tank on top shelf and wetted substrata
Layed eggsack 11thApril,2013.
Pulled eggsack 10th May,2013.all were N2,s
Molted to spiderlings 31st may,2013.
Total 174.

174 spiderlings
