Hi everyone. Scorps aren't really my thing, but tonight my son Logan found a strange creature that resembles a scorpion but doesn't have the stinging tail. the segments and structure of the claws don't look like a whipscorpion either. This creature looks like a true scorpion. the colors are dark brown / mahogany on the claws and i can't tell on the body. the body is about a millimeter in length. As far as i knew, we don't have any scorps here. I live in Gulfport , MS about 7 miles north of the beach. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. i'll be able to post pics in a few days. i've gotta fix some things. Are scorps known to not have tails in the first few instars?:?

I think you may be right. I ran a search on Pseudoscorpions and they look pretty close to what we found. I'll have to look some more to find the exact species, but Lasiochernes cretonatus is not the right color; but claw structure and body shape are a very close match. Thanks!

The apartment I'm in right now gets pseudoscorpions all the time. I'll go to take a shower, and see half a dozen or so running around the tub, or climbing the wall. They're an amazing little species, and thankfully harmless. :) I just watch them from time to time.
