Hey there,
My friend recently discovered some odd brown spots on one of her Megasoma Actaeon larvae. I live about 5 hours away so I can't go see them in person but I have pictures. They look like some sort of eggs?

This guy is about 2 inches long at the moment. Does anyone know what this is?

Ah, I should have specified, I'm actually talking about the tiny brown dots clustered along the ridges and on the head
Those are mites. I have successfully eliminated them from beetle larvae by placing the larva in completely dried out ground up leaves for 4-5 days. Also the substrate the larva was in should either be replaced or placed in the freezer for a few days. Be sure to clean the containers with hot bleach water as well.
In small numbers, these mites don't seem to cause a real problem for the larvae. They don't actually feed on the larva, but it's a good idea to get rid of them.

Brush them off with a children's paint brush, crush them, heat treat substrate.
