So I've finally made the decision .. I'm gonna get myself a nice Emperor ...
but then again, I realised I know absolutely nothing about them ...
What substrate mixture should I have? Do they like to burrow? And last; if a scorpion stings you ... do they always inject venom?

Thanks,
Jorgen

Jorgen,

A 50/50 peat/potting soil is a good recommended substrate mixture. I use 100% peat for my H.spinifer and have yet to fond mold growing in their enclosure even though the humidity is always high and air circulation is low. best way to keep humodity up is to cover top partially with plexiglass or plastic wrap. The amout you cover the top depends on local humidity and how often you mist. Ideal humidity is about %80 and temps around 80-85F.

Scorpions do not always inject venom. Some can control the amount of venom injected and even the composition of the venom.

Have Fun,

John

IME, emperors rarely inject venom, unless it's something large like a cockroach. Crickets are usually dispatched with the claws alone.
