We only found out that this mare was in foal in December. She had jumped into the stallion's pasture early last April, and everyone pretty much just hoped that nothing had happened. Well, it did! She was born around 5 this morning - she's a bay Appendix Quarter Horse filly. She's cute as can be and absolutely healthy. I do not own the mare, she just boards at the same place where I keep my horse.

Mare's owner, Heather, seeing the new filly for the first time.

My horse totally doesn't understand what the fuss is about. She could care less about the baby.

aw, so cute. is that swirly on her forehead something all horses are born with, or is she just special? I know nothing about horses, but she's totally adorable!

Most horses do have a whorl there...sometimes two. :) It's totally normal. I wish she had a white marking on her face!

Awesome pics!! Don't show this to Kim, or she'll try to put one in the backyard. Very cute little bugger though.

I come from horse country, Montana, and new foals are always traffic stoppers. I'm guilty as well. This filly is adorable! All legs and head when they come out.

Just curious, what's the line on the underside of your horse's neck? An old injury?
