hi there. i have a 0.0.1 grammostola rosea, and have been taking care of "it" for 2 months.

the question is... sometimes my sling elevates it's abdomen up, and scratches-rubs-grooms(whatever) it's abdomen with it's 4th legs..

is it some clue for something? upcoming moult, infestation etc?

or is it practicing hair kicking? :}

cheers

It is probably just grooming itself, like a cat. If it is actually rubbing hairs off then it could possibly be just lining its home with urticating hairs, it is like an extra safety measure for them.

yes, some of my nw ts (even the adults) sometimes use their urticating hairs to mnake their home safer. hell, it itches during maintainance :wall:

but just to be sure, you should check the little one for parasites. put it on a dark surface (mites are white/cream coloured), and use a flashlight and a magnifying glass. look especially between the chelicera. near the eyes and at the joints. if it has mites, you should see white dots there.
