Spider love and hate

Is it ok to love certain species of tarantulas and spiders and still absolutely fear others?
I mean like some tarantulas I find cute and wouldn't mind if they crawled on me and others I can barely muster an evil death stare at. Same with true spiders.
Anyone else feel the same?

It's OK to fear brown paper bags, people that smell like cabbage, and popcorn machines. So, it's probably OK to fear some spiders.

I'm not talking fear like they will harm me, I'm talking purely from their looks. As in spider species-ism. Like certain patterns on the species or something make it difficult to look at. Has anyone had that feeling like a certain species was particularly unappealing to look at to the point that it's looks caused repulsive feelings even if it was harmless. Yet you can handle spiders in general just fine.

Never mind. I found the term I was looking for. Sometimes certain patterns on spiders knees or carapace or something form a shape which causes me to feel the look of that species is unappealing. The closest term I could find was Trypophobia which is a fear of holes in a pattern or patterns which have repeated void spaces in a pattern or cluster. I'm not gonna provide an example cause I don't wanna look at it. Anyways for now I keep species with simple or solid patterns.

I can somewhat relate. I love all my spiders but one. This one particular B. boehmei I absolutely hate! I guess it's more of a "personality" thing since I have 2 of them and the other is a perfectly fine T.

Interesting. I'm familiar with the condition, but I didn't think something like a pattern on a T could trigger it.

If you don't mind, would you be willing to look up the Hapalopus genus and tell me how it makes you feel?

I looked it up - including the pictures. That's just... I mean, those pics google provides with the explanation... :vomit::vomit::vomit:. I'm still shuddering, thinking about it. Although I don't see that in tarantula patterns.

I have a massive problem to take a look for example at Araneus. The shape of these spiders are horrible to me. But I'm working on this problem, and I am sure I can make it, it is part of my arachnophobia, and I beat this terrible feeling.
In the meantime I love @basin79 s Heteropoda (in his vids ^^ ). So I know I'm going ahead.

BTW: I NEVER want to have a tarantula crawling on my arm, I prefer to watch them in their enclosure ;).

I prefer the "look" of tarantulas and certain true spiders, other true spiders I find less appealing, only my preferences though

This is all together what i really wanted to discuss. The phobia I mentioned is just the closest thing I could find to describe a feeling I sometimes get.

I really wanted to discuss with others the fact that it's ok to love some and have opposite feelings towards others spiders. I'm glad I'm not alone in that feeling.
