Do any of you keep a log of what's going on in your collection? What do you use?

I've been working on something that I wonder if anyone would be interested in. A spider website, basically for logging things. Currently it has a full working log interface, and I've been using it for a bit now.

Please excuse the design... I'm a programmer, not a designer :p

I eventually plan on creating an Android app to interface with it, adding a section for bite reports, etc.

Looks sweet. There are a couple of applications for windows that already do this, but something web-based with a smartphone app is definitely the future!

There are some good functions from thos programs that you might want to include (if you can figure out how) such as:
- One button feed/water logging
- Download/backup of table data
- Timed alerts/reminders for feeding/watering

And I'd be happy to help out with the design in my spare time. It looks like your interface is pretty simple so it would be easy to make it look a bit prettier.

Congrats though, this looks like a lot of work and a much appreciated contribution to the hobby.

I use The Tarantula Keepers Record.
It's old, but simple and easy to use.

I used to use exotic keepers record, but then they updated it and it became ugly, complicated and cumbersome.

Yours looks good, though, keep it up!

Just added the one button feed/watter logging. The download backup is a good idea. I'm thinking I'll use push notifications for the reminders on Android. Not quite sure how to do it in a web based application other than email.

I'll take a look at those, and thanks!

I've found that, despite being a programmer myself, I prefer the good old-fashioned pen and paper.

I have a composition tablet.

I keep daily notes in a journal as well. I also use ExoticKeeprsRecord, I thought the updated version was a great improvement.

<-- Another P&P descriptive narrative user. I keep track of scorpion, spider and snake activity in the same log, a composition notebook. I update each day.

This is exciting...please make a Mac version? :) I currently don't keep records, but I would like to start, especially as my collection grows. I was thinking about starting a notebook, but a digital log would be so much more practical.

Cynic, looking pretty good so far. I am also a software developer and have only had T's for about 3 weeks now (2 of them). I am currently keeping notes in a Word Doc.

I would love to try out your PC based version! I would much rather type notes on a keyboard than on my Android.

It *should* work on a mac, but as I don't have one, I can't try it out

That is awesome! Are the old dates/ notes stored. Like when you type in a molt date does it save the old one somewhere so you have a record of every time it molted/was fed?

I use an Excel spreadsheet. Not pretty but it's practical. I keep updated pics in it and make notes as to molt dates, exciting things that happen, etc. I looked at the records available online and found (at that time, when I only had 2 Ts) that they were too cumbersome. I should prolly look again as now I have 5 with 2 more on the way (>sigh<) OR wait for synic's to be available (hint, hint!). :D

I also prefer pen a paper, went out and bought me a fancy Notebook and i log anything unusual, size, molts, feeding schedule and any weird behavior during feeding. Works very well and allows me to track whats going on with my little angels XD
