i went to south eastern spain last summ and these kept turning up in the pool. im going back this summer and wondered if anyone could id it.

i know the pic quality isnt great so if noone can dont worry i'm just curious
and am considering capturing one next time to study while im there.

how big is it?
It really seems something like a black wolf spider (Lycosidae)... but it's very difficult with thiese pictures...
Or a Segestria.. but the abdomen is too short...
How it had the eyes? Two larger frontal eyes plus 6 little ones?
It could even be a Nemesia...
It's really difficult sorry...

it reminds me a lot of a wolf spider too, but i can't tell

from that picture you can´t tell anything about the spider. could be almost everything. Maybe it would be smart to google after Segestria florentina; Lycosa sp.; Nemesia sp. or even Cteniza sp.

Maybe it is a Amblyocarenum walckenaeri (=A. simile) male.





I'm from spain and is comon in the summer nights.

ok thanks for the replies. i didnt really get a look at the eyes the one in the pics had drowned overnight and wasnt easy to distinguish. i will try those searches to see. when i go back i will try to get better pics.
the size was between 1.5 inch and 2.5 inch legspan at a guess
