My male king baboon has been acting very strange lately. For one thing I cannot even remember the last time he ate, but he is still plump. But from about a week or so ago, I find him in the strangest positions and he just chills in his waterdish. I got back from work today to see him hanging his abdomen off the wooden hide in his KK, it almost looked as though it was gunna fall off! But the one thing that grabbed my attention was his fangs. It looks like he is trying to molt or something, but is not on his back and he moves very quickly, but clumbsy, when I touch him. (I touch him to make sure hes not dead). So what do you all think? Look closely at the fangs in the pics

It looks well hydrated. other than that I would guess molt, but I am not familiar with this species.

Kinda looks like he got stuck at the beginning of a molt. I can't offer any help though.

The fangs look like what my LD's were when they were about to molt. Leave him alone for a while. He looks alright. You might have disturbed him when he was about to try to turn over.

Thanks for the quick replys guys. I hope he does molt, if so, it will most likely be his maturing molt.

It sounds like premolt symptoms, hopefully that is it. He does look a bit odd though...

They are a very beautiful looking species. Even the back legs feel very velvety. but DONT try it.

The pics of the female were taken when I was rehousing her. I put her in a 30 gal tall aq, with about 25" of dirt to dig. She chose to dig right next to the glass alll the way down. I"ll get a picture of it real quick and post it.

Most people do not want to buy species like this the so called "less visible" ones, but if you can set things up just right, you'll always see them.

The male never burrows, so hes out all the time. Glad he is too, or I would have never knowticed the problem.

I dont mind pet hole Ts. I have a beautiful H.Gigas and its one of my favorite Ts. People dont like them (H.Gigas) because they are "Plain brown" and pet holes. But I dont care. It just makes seeing it all more special.
