some trapdoors

Wow. Does that second species use its abdomen to close the tunnel. I.e. does it use its butt as a door. Its wild looking though.

yeah jt these spiders will use there plug shaped abdomen as a defense mechanism to keep intruders out of there burrows.not sure if its the same species as this one but Cyclocosmia truncata is found in georgia ,tennessee and alabama.would love to find some of those :D

this is Cyclocosmia ricketti. yes, as well as having a trapdoor to camo the burrow, they can seal the burrow using the abdomen. that flat part of the abdomen is a hard armour.

i believe C. truncata is a endangered species is several states?

hmmmm not shure if it helps but ok.. i got it at a show in Houten (Holland)

the key works for this spider... so my best guess is it comes from China.
