solfugids in Nor-cal?

when i was hunting up near redding california, every night at about 9:00 (outside) we would fing these small critters which looked much like a potatoe bug in appereance, but they werent. it had a large yellowish abdomen, short legs and 2 large teeth. they looked EXACTLY like a species of solfugid! the largest we saw was about 4", they seemed to be attracted to light. next time i go, i will bring back as many as possible to post some pix. so what my question is, is it possible for solfugids to be around Nor-cal during the middle of summer? are solfugids even near us?

yes, they emerge in the summer here to coincede with our seasonal rains.

virtually all of these guys do HORRIBLE in captivity

i don't buy or trade for them anymore (but was just given one by the petstore guy )

pretty much you will kill all the ones you take... possibly it's better to take pics of them in nature

yes thats exactly the one that are here! hey caco, im gonna give it a shot at keeping one or two. i have a 25 gallon tank with two heating lamps, sand, some moss, hiding places(many) and some decorations.
