Mikhail,

Original description of Hapalopus sellatus by Simon

Female 7.3 mill. for prosoma and 6.4 mill. for opisthosoma = 13.7

Not much, but it does not mean the specimen was full grown.

He only gives lenght of the prosoma for the male, which is 7 mill.

thank you for all the information!

I would appreciate it, if all you cyriocosmus owners could give me some more information on the temprament (although some have already done this). Just to get more information. because I red so many things in the net from extremely aggressive to quite docile!
I'm especially interested in their hair flicking! are the notorious hair flickers because then I might think again about getting one! I just had such a bad reaction when I just fed my brachypelma stock...:( but maybe they are sweeties anyway! ;)

Hi,

Everyone here has given very good advice, I would like to add in addtion that in the recent publication of ARACHNE from DEARGE (Deutsche Arachnologische Gesellschaft) found over 100 C. elegans of all ages living in a 1 square meter area.
the area where more than 100 C. elegans in all sizes where found was about 2 x 2 m.

Yes, it is really not dwarf, Kreuz.
And Titus - thanks fro info - can You give the exact reference for the article?
Mikhail, the reference is:
  • ALTMANN, W. (2007): Dichtes Zusammenleben in alten Gemäuern - Ein ungewöhnlicher Fundort von Cyriocosmus elegans (SIMON, 1889) auf Tobago. ARACHNE 12(3): 4-11.
all the best,
Martin
