I have mixed feelings. If I was 13 years old I would think that was a really awesome show. I kind of like how they try and educate people in their own way.

If I didn't go to school to study biology and get my degree, and work in the veterinary industry ,and I was not considered by many in the vet industry as an expert re: reptiles etc.. Than I might think differently.

The above statements are true so I would say that I find a few things annoying about the breeder stuff.

1) how many ball python morphs do we really need. The funny thing is how expensive they are with the MINIMAL effort needed to produce some morphs. It's not rocket science. More like high school to beginning BIO 101 (which I would be qualified to teach with a couple more classes).

2) I do not like the lives that these mass bred snakes live. I think they are not a pet per se, but more of a materialistic possession.

As for the people on the video. I thought they were decent. Like I said If I had had a lobotomy or I was 13 again I would think it was awesome!!

I just see so many moral problems with the mass breeding of reptiles or any animal like that. But o well....

On a side note. I have bred numerous species of arachnids. I did not see a problem with that. I did not have some mass breeding setup. And I offered RARE (or at least in the 90's) for fair to dirt cheap prices.

Now.... I am not trying to change anyone's mind. I think it is fine if someone wants to spend $1,200 on some snake that some moron bred for a fraction of the cost that is their own concern.

I just like to debate and talk about issues. It is fun for me. So please don't take what I am saying to heart but please share your info! I love a good debate!! (which I am sure this will turn into).

My 2 cents (which does not mean anything {D ). I find the patterns and color morphs interesting, but I believe it is an abomination. It is just one more of man's power plays to control nature (and make money). If you gave me a "weird expensive morph", I would turn around and sell it and start my own breeding projects of "pure" bloodlines. Just my 2 cents. No hard feelings.

I like watching every episode. I learn new things. I'm an adult and I can judge for myself. Education comes also from the parents. I educate my girls to respect the animals (everything that's on the planet). Brian is not mistreating them in any way. Except for Chewy! LOL!

Chewy makes me laugh and I love it. Laughing is a great therapy for me and I appreciate it in every episode.

I will never be a big snake breeder but they do give good information for those who would want to start breeding.

No harm in that. ;)

Have a nice day!:D

They put on a good show. They have an insane collection of reptiles (I wonder how much they pay to feed per week.) I hate the dumb side-trip things they do that have nothing to do with reptiles and the word from their sponsors. I wouldn't (and couldn't) pay asking price for many of their snakes.

If they sold one of their high dig morphs, they could probably feed the entire collection for a month. Otherwise, somebody already had money to begin with.

That couldn't have been better said!!! I agree 100%!! I like a lot of the natural colors of snakes much better than the albino or what ever. But in the same respect I do not think the reptile color morphs are not too much different from say dwarf rabbits or a goldendoodle. You wouldn't believe how many awful dental problems dwarf rabbits have due to selective breeding and screwy genetics.

I've literally seen rabbits jaws rotting away!

I really enjoy seeing all the awesome morphs people create. Some are really beautiful. I've always been a big fan of albino animals. A lot of people think they're ugly. I have two albino salamanders and several albino snakes.
However, I do have to say that some of the really expensive morphs, in my opinion, are not that cool looking. Like the champagne ball pythons. They're $30,000 and they're just a boring beige color. I'm sure some people think they're great though. Or they just want them because they're rare and expensive. :p

TO: Craig and DavidBarber1, I say "Here Here!" I share the same opinions and often find I am the only one in the room sometimes....

While some of the morphs actually are kinda cool looking, I think its a total atrocity and insult to the species regardless. Albinos are excluded, because in nature you may actually find an albino. Neat-o! But in nature you will never find a "Thin-line Bumble Bee het for Snow Spinner possible het for stripe" Ball python. That is just wrong. I very much prefer pure bred stock as it would occur in nature.

Now lets all go cross breed some leopard geckos....{D {D {D

i'm not a huge fan of albino herps in general though i will admit to some interest in looking at them but i've never understood the outrageous prices for basically albino or pattern morphs.

that said, i DO like the piebald bp and the leucistic rat snake and might own one someday, you never know.

selective breeding is part of our history even though it usually is to enhance helpful traits(horses, dogs, stock animals etc) sometimes it's for pure aesthetic purposes(the chinese crested for example:eek: ).

i think that color morphs certainly have their place in the hobby since they are obviously in demand and the species bred in this fashion are usually not threatened in the wild so there is little need to preserve the original form exclusively.
