Just bought a little S. mesaensis today and I’ve put it on jungle mix substrate because that’s just what I had. Does it need sand, or can anything work as long as it’s dry? I imagine it'll be able to dig a burrow just fine in this stuff.

It needs a dry substrate prolonged exposure to moisture can cause a mycosis infection. It would be better on sand especially if the jungle mix has not been completely dried out.

Then I’ll have to buy some clay mix tomorrow. I hear these guys dig nonstop and make complex tunnels.
