Hello all,
I have a dune scorpion that I was just keeping on ordinary sand but wanted to give it some burrowing potential. So, I made this setup (pictured) with excavator clay, pete moss, and coir. But of course, I used too much clay and water and now the sub is hard as cement, and definitely can’t be dug through. There is a hide, I’m not sure my scorpion likes it very much because I don’t see it come out too much at the usual hours anymore, and I haven’t gotten it to eat in a few weeks either. What do we think, should I redo the substrate? Or let my scorpion chill as to not stress it out more?

The enclosure looks fine and substrate maybe abit too much clay but otherwise looks fine too. Scorpions can surprise you what they can burrow down into often using their tails armed with its toothy carinae as a backhoe of sorts. If the scorpion spends alot time in the burrow means it loves it.
