My Beardie has been doing fine for the last 2 weeks at around 90F to 95F...............
When I went to feed him this morning it appears that he has
not digested his food very well.

Would raising his basking temp solve the problem?

I switched from a 60w bulb to a 75w to try and raise the temp.
I also have a heat mat, if I need it.

Ideas, help
:?

He eats crickets and greens to.
His tank is simple right now because he is so little.
Paper towel on the bottom, a water bowl, a rock in the basking spot. And I switched to a 75w bulb to up the temp a little.
Now he is at 100 give or take a degree.(Cheap stick on thermometer) I need to get a better one next week.
I put Rep-Cal on his crickets every morning.
He is very active and hunts well.

Setup looks good, but you might want to just stick a log in there diagonally up to the top for him to climb on. That way if he feels he's too cold he can climb up by the light. Can never go wrong with an under tank heater, but just dont go out and do something drastic and buy one of those retarded heated rock things. Most lizards aren't smart enough (or something:confused:) not to burn themselves on it. Also from what I've seen beardies actually like climbing so a log would be good. I also don't think you need to feed him EVERY day. Like I said I feed mine 2x per week and he's growing like a beast. Better to encourage them to eat the greens when you can so that they get used to it. When they are adults more greens are sposed to be better for them then all the crickets/ protein items.

Im thinkin maybe he eats too much, or the crickets are too big. They are supposed to be 1/3 the size of their head (though my velvet gecko eats large crickets no problem and they're about the size OF his head lol).

I do need to get something else for climbing,
need to go to another shop, the local one here really
sucks!
He also needs a hide log to.

I know about the rocks, they've ALWAYS been bad news.
Burns and ugly scars. I've seen a lizard with burns. I just
don't know how people could be so stupid!!

The crickets we feed to "Spike" are pretty small, maybe
I just give him too many. The person I purchased him from
(and some things I have read) say to feed them crickets until they stop eating them. He usually takes 6 each day and a
bowl of greens. He eats almost all of the greens too.

Today his waste is normal, so maybe he just wasn't warm enough:confused:

Could be.... actually I thought you meant he regurgitated his food. I dont think his poo is much of a problem unless its chronic. Then it could be a parasite or something. Maybe he just had a bad cricket lol. And as for a climbling log you dont have to buy it. Just go outside and hack a tree lol.

I wish I could just hack a branch off of a tree.
So many things get sprayed around here its not
worth the chance. We also have this red dust in the air
that is on everything and no one can explain where its
from.
We have land fills and I'm pretty sure thats where the "dust"
is coming from. I do not even put water in the bird bath anymore
because of the red residue...

So, I have no choice, I HAVE to buy the stuff:mad:

I'll mail you a branch off my pear tree in back lol. Drift wood seems to work best if you can find that at a store. :D

I'll find something, I always do:)
The other pet shop I go to in Dearborn has a huge
box of wood pieces all the time. I'm sure I'll find one there.

Thanks for your input:D

It sounds like you might be feeding him too many crickets.

Baby beardeds shouldn't be fed until they stop eatting. Whoever told you that was very wrong. That's just an easy road to impaction.

When my dragons were young, they got six crickets (1/3 the size of their head) every other day, in the evening. As adults, you can use full size crickets and do two dozen every week.

The greenery is the most important part of their diet. Just make sure you don't give them stuff that's mostly water :)

The person who bread them told me this:?
Then to offer greens and veggies too.

I have reduced the amount of crickets (by size & count)
and I keep greens and such available all day, every day.

He eats 6 small dusted crix and a small bowl of salad daily.

They way he eats kind of reminds me of those Japanese monster movies!LOL
Thanks for all your help:)
