I don't know if this is normal or not, my emperor is very sluggish, he just stays in the hide, I bought him/her a week ago and don't know what's wrong, I left decapitated meal worms in the tank, they remain there. I don't know, I have a heat pad on the side of the tank, i mist, I don't know what else to do? I fill the water dish.

Should I try crickets or something? I don't know if its doing good or not.

try puting the worms up to his mouth he might take them then and it's normal for them to hide but if he's not moving theres prob, he migh just be over stressed

Mine didn't come out of the hide for a few days after I got them. But as soon as I dropped a cricket at thier face, BAM they come to life. Then again Ramses is much more aggressive (or defensive rather) and active. Tut just kinda chills, lets you hold him, rarely bothers raising his tail, but he is perfectly healthy, just really mellow. I would assume your emp might be the same way, but like thedude said, try putting food up to its face or pedipalps and see how it reacts. And don't worry, it won't starve to death in just a week or two.

What are your temps? They are often sluggish if kept below 80F. Besides, it is normal for one to hide constantly

Scorpions can go for periods far greater than one week without food. It's quite common for this to happen too, they'll gorge themselves with many crickets etc then stop eating for 2 weeks.

Just have patience.

Id have to agree on the temps. Emps like higher temps with higher humidity. The lower the temps, the less active they are, and they are not normally a highly active scorpion.

Emps also tend to take a while to get "settled in" -- try giving it a few more days.

I've never seen my scorps take prekilled, so try leaving in a live cricket or two. Mealworms are ok if you hold them up to the scorp as thedude suggested but the scorp may be scared of your hand and ignore the prey.

My emp is the same way! I've had him since July and at first he was super active. The last time I saw him eat anything was on August 10th, I have a picture. Ever since then he's been under his water dish just sleeping there. I clean it weekly and he'll come out wait until I'm done, then he'll go back under it. Today, I bought him some giant mealworms and so far he's been more active. As for heating, I have a heating pad on the top side of the tank and a Infared light as well. I switch it out with a UV for day and the IR at night. The humidity without the lighting is usually at 80 and the temp is at 75-78. When the light is on it's at 78-80 and the humidity is at 60-70, sometimes 55. Does he sound sick or just getting used to his home too? :? Didn't want to repost this question so I added here :D

Really? I was going to get him a friend, but I dunno if I should since he's been alone for so long. I was going to either get a Flat Rock or another Black Emp for him. Should I do this or would they fight and not get along? I don't want him or the other one to get hurt or die. Plus I love my Scorpion! :D What do you guys think?

This is starting to get off-topic, but do NOT get a flat-rock for a tankmate. The two species require very different habitats and flat-rocks are not known for being communal.

Most people experience a little bit of territorial "this is my tank of dirt" at first, but things usually calm down without a problem (I've never done this though, so all I know is from others' experiences).

To the original poster, I'd like to add that emps are widely known as being pet holes -- a happy emp stays in its burrow. If you want to see them more often, make a burrow for them that's against the glass.
