hey...

i have a 1.25" Salmon Pink Birdeater and i was wondering if it is a bad thing to keep a young T in a large cage? it probably makes it harder to find its food...b/c my lil baby isnt eating much...at least not as much as ive heard that slings eat. could it be b/c the cage is to big...will this prvent a problem?

thanx

Most of the advice I've seen in reference to slings is for a smaller enclosure to help maintain humidity and for ease of the T to find it's food. I've got the tiny ones in pill bottles and then as they progress in size, I move up to deli cups or mini kritter keepers. With the kritter keepers I followed advice, again from this site, and taped up some of the vents to maintain humidity.

Hey, I'd keep that species in a large deli container until it gets around 2.5 inches. Move it into a small pet-pal then. You are going to have to make several different enclosure changes throughout your tarantulas lifetime, especially for a large species like that.
