I was wondering do the assassin bug also give off a foul smell when disturbed?

We always called them stink bugs and the older folk around here blame them for "stinging" tomatoes and cucumbers and ruining them.

There are other true bugs that look like assassin bugs, and even have similar looking proboscis type mouthparts. More importantly, these bugs, like leaf-footed bugs (coreidae, for example) do feed on plants. Old folks are funny. Half the time they are wise and the other half they're entirely off their rockers!

I've never smelled an odor from an assassin bug, but that doesn't mean that some species don't excrete or that some humans don't have better noses than me.

These guys here are grayish and looks like a leaf on their back or their wings do. About 1-1 1/2" legs are spiny twig like.I would have to post a picture.
Looks like I got a new project.

I don't recall the colony I had this summer giving off a foul smell at any point, but I could be wrong. My nose has "seen" a lot of bugs and a lot of smells.

Here's a video I shot on wheel bugs:

Bites can be pretty painful, by the way (that's not the subject of the video).
