The shots are very blurry and what might be mistaken for spermathecae may simply be a shine of light. Can you get a macro shot, well lit, of the area between the forward book lungs? There is no need for anything else.

Lots of light, and up close is best.

One of my avics molted at about2-2.5" and the spermathecae were very prominent. I'm not seeing them on your t. I would say male.

I'm going to go with male.

For future reference it helps a lot to orientate the photo up and down not left to right.

Your camera is good enough, you just need to focus a bit better and orient the molt so it's easier to see the goods. Are you using a macro setting?
If you remove any unnecessary stuff in the pic like the legs (cut them off) your camera will have an easier time focusing on what you want.

Its a 10+ year old digital camcorder- cannon elura2mc- it doesnt SAY macro, no flower icon . . .
Its really a vid camera, but doesnt hook up to my computer . . .
The photos were alway decent for my frogs, but the detail needed for these Ts, just aint there.

Ill go try to cut the legs and stuff off, and manual focus.
I aint ready to go to best buy just yet . . .

Every species has differently shaped spermathecae. Some are like 2 small mounds extending out and may not be that obvious. With A.avic they are very prominent finger like protrusions and very hard to miss with a specimen the size as yours. I use a jewellers loupe that magnifies 8X and 15X and is invaluable for smaller specimens but can be pricey for a good quality one.

So, just my luck . . .
Go to best buy, dont have what I want . . .
Go up to Frys, they have the usb microscope, 2 to choose from- 1 is like a regular micro that a small cam attaches to, the other is more like a free-standing webcam.

I get the microscope looking model as I could always use the cam without it and get a free scope.

Get home, set it all up, start lookin at my molt, really good magnifacation . . .

Go to download the software off the disk, and the disk is literally broken in half.
I got an open box model cause it was $10 cheaper.

Imma go back tomorow and get the free-standing model . . .

That is wicked, nice pics!
What's the make and price of the scope?
BTW it looks like a male{D .
And yeah it leaves a bad taste when that happens, buying a "female" that isn't. Same thing happened to me recently.
