So I've set up my little terrarium and just need to know if it's OK for a jumping spider. And I know they need water to drink but how does everyone provide it? This is my first spider so not sure the best way to provide it drinking water. 20220331_131251.jpg

Water dishes are a bad idea with jumpers. They can drown in water dishes. To provide water spray the wall a little with a spray bottle.

These inverts didnt survive in the wild because they could drown in a bottle cap amount of water. A small water dish is fine.

I’ve always heard that it’s not a good idea to have a water dish. I guess I never questioned that. Maybe it depends on the size of the jumper. I wouldn’t put one in my enclosure because mine is small and frequently falls off the walls. Most of the time onto the flowers, but sometimes onto the substrate and if there was a water dish there, even a small one would be not good. (She has always had foot problems; she is not old)

plus I just think it’s a better idea to spray the walls. Jumpers don’t usually walk along the ground, (some do) so they wouldn’t be seeing the water as much.

Thanks. I'll stick to just giving the walls of a tank a little spray for it. Dont want it to accidently drown if I add a water dish for it
