Hey I just got this beautiful Selenocosmia Dichromata two days ago it doesn't seem to defensive at the moment, but I'm giving him space to get use to his new environment. IS there anything else I should know about these guys? The research I've done says that they are very aggressive and fast so I plan to deal with them very carefully. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Give your Selenocosmia lots of soil to burrow in and keep the tank on the humid side! Also if it is a WC adult you may want to provide a water dish if you haven't yet.WC animals can sometimes come in malnourished so it is a good idea to make sure they have a nice source of drinking water.
Hope that helps!

I would prob fill it about 3/4 of the way full with soil. You can also start a burrow for her by making a starter hole on one side of the tank.

They are said to be pretty defensive. If you have any experience with Haplos, it's pretty similar.

Well I walked into my Man room/insectorium today and I was just checking on my S. dichormata I finally saw the defensive side of her. She didn't want me near her new home at all. My next question is since she is a burrowing species do I need to provide a half log as a hide or just let her decide when to burrow. Because right now all she has is the water dish and 8.5 inches deep of coco fiber in her viv.

You could put a peice of cork bark in the substrate vertically, protruding out, or you could start one yourself for it, or put some bark on the substrate flat, they will often want to hide and burrow, seems to make them more secure.

I'll be trying that shortly I had to transfer her today. I'll be putting in a half log in about 10 mins.

You might want to take as many photos as possible now, because if its anything like a Haplopelma you won't see it for months when it burrows!

I hope it hangs out every now and then but I think I'm going to grab a A. geniculata from the spider shop unless I can find someone selling one. I've been reading that their crazy eaters and they make a good display T. :)
