Hello! New keeper here.. I would love to see what yall use to keep your scorpions when you have a bunch of them. Some links to buy it would be nice too!

I have a ton of scorps but their enclosure varies from species to species! I keep mostly desert species because I like building their enclosures to be artsy and beautiful (for me), and the fact they’re local to me and very easy to care for. If you’re looking for pictures of higher humidity, scorpions, like forest scorpions, I have a few, reminds me I need to go through some of my photos and start a thread! I’ll post some pics depending on which kind of scorpion you’re more interested in :D

Ooh I see! Apologies! Well my favorites are simple Kritter Keeper style enclosures, I know they’re not lovely but they’re cheap and most of my species are desert! Plus I make them pretty for me to look at hehe. It also makes feeding and the morning “dew” spritz at 4am easier. I have a TON of pinchy babies so the KK’s make sense. But if I were to only have a couple pinchy stingy babies I’d invest in a herpcult style magnetic acrylic enclosure or small glass aquarium. The 2.5 gal aquariums they sell at PetSmart are perfect for creating a sloped space for your scorpion depending on the size. I’m pretty sure I bought all of the 2.5’s at my lps …

I just have one scorp, hoping to have many more after I go to an expo this weekend. I have 3 critter keepers though, I’ll keep using those thx! So much cheaper than a glass tank.. lightweight, cheap, already has ventilation, handles to pick up..

Hi all I'm after advise on what would be the optimum size tank to keep a communal group of H.Spinnifer as my female had babbys just before Christmas 24 of them!
So I want to see about keeping them together as a group Please advise:)

Once the babies are off mothers back and wandering around best to separate them and house them individually..

For one thing it's far easier to monitor and feed individuals.

You MAYBE lucky and keep some babies in small groups for a while, however later on the cannibalism will start as they mature.

Some will say " Oh you can keep them together etc.etc. "

Yes you probably can short term, not long term when males and females mature.

Males will go prowling and seek out mates, so fights will occur, females will want their own space, again fighting will occur, and if kept together when mature you'll have more than 24 young to worry about.

I use glass aquariums with mesh lids. 2.5 gal/5 gal are my favorites. They just work well in my house's climate.
So many different arthropods have inhabited those tanks; they are very well-loved!

Hi Dry Desert, thanks for the reply. I’ve actually got the scorplings separated in individual pots already and they have moulted and are eating well so l must be doing something right lol.
Yes l was only going to put five or so together not all of them 😧
I’ve seen a few YouTube vids of setups but I’m a bit short of space so I’m going to have to get creative haha, as there’s no way I’m able to keep all of them 😞
I’ll keep them till there bigger (and the weather is good) and sure their all heathy before selling most.
Hi gzophia, my adult is currently in a 10gallon glass tank with a custom built mesh lid that has a sliding Perspex vent to moderate humidity so in hot weather I can almost shut it to stop moisture loss but still allows airflow.
all my tanks are bioactive so mould and fungus gnats have never been a concern.
To save on cost for these guys I think I’ll just use plastic critter keepers while they’re still small and upgrade them when they get bigger any thoughts on this ?

Sounds fine,
Just make sure you don't restrict airflow with the sliding lid.
Better to have maximum airflow and keep the substrate good and moist, not dripping wet, then have stagnant air build up in the lower areas of the enclosure.
Your Critter Keepers will be fine until they're old enough to sell on.

Heterometrus are excellent mothers. She will kill and provide food for her brood during their earliest instars. They can be found in large multigenerational colonies in the wild. So bearing you provide them plenty of space, hides, and food cannibalism will be a bare minimum. They will all (or most) inhabit the same burrow and share same hides without incidence. But you must be willing to provide adequate space and abundance of food, every mouth needs to be fed on a weekly or biweekly basis.
