I'd guess it would have something to do with daylength or other environmental cues they'd have in the wild. Fortunately it seems like captivity they'll breed year-round, or you can mimic certain environmental events (monsoon season, etc.) whenever you want to get them to breed.
In captivity almost no animals have a selected breeding season, the breeding season of a wild animal is after all just the result of a favourable selection of conditions.
If these conditions are replicated in captivity they will breed all year round.
