How communal are Scorpio maurus palmatus? I wanted to get some to set up a bigger tank.

Hello,

In the wild they are found near eachother, but each has their own burrow. I haven't heard of anyone keeping them together in captivity though.

I've tried it with S.m.fuscus...It didn't work and i had to split them up again. They would allways fight when they came in contact with each other. I also had one that seemed as if it was actively looking for the others.......it was nothing to do with a social visit!

I was thinking ten gallon but that is probably way to small for them, even if I had two in there. Is that the reason they are so hard to breed?

Hello,

Probably the same reason Desert Haries are so hard to breed. No one can make a set up like they would have in the wild. So, they can not burrow as deep as they want to reach the humidity level that they want.

I did have keep a couple maurus together and without problems, the tanker was 35x30 with a lot of hiding places! I split them after the mating process
