Scolopendra viridis Bite?

I'm considering picking up this species. It's being offered on Ovogram, so I though I'd try it since it'd be free. However, I couldn't find a bite report on this species and I know Scolopendra bites can vary between species. On a scale of S. subspinipes to S. dehaani, how bad is this species' bite? I hear they're more on the aggressive side as well, so I thought it was important to ask.

I don't expect it would be particularly bad. I'd assume similar to polymorpha, but as I have had no experience with either, don't take my word for it.

I'm pretty sure it'll be mild, probably similar to S.polymorpha, but I could be wrong.

To be honest, in your absence, thanks to Mastigoproctus, I have broke the ice with all my pedes in terms of handling, and the first step to doing that was dismissing any nervousness concerning the potential of a bite. Just go ahead, don't get rough, watch Mastig's videos carefully, and the result will be a pede you can basically treat like a pet snake. All my pedes, some more aggressive than others, became equally docile thanks to careful socialisation. IMO, they feel more like pets than any other invert I have kept.

I have had a nearly 1 foot S. s. d. and handled it 2 times. I would not advise handling a hot pede. I have witnessed them test bite lots of different things they were walking on. In the video of me handling this pede when it was mearly 9.5-10 inches long I stopped handling it all together as I noticed it 'test biting' the cork bark. A bad bite is not worth the risk IMO and handling them really does not benefit them in any way.

If you all want to handle them be my guest, but I have stopped handling my venomous inverts as it only has the potential to harm myself and them and there don't seem to be any positives in it for the organism in hand other than selfish needs being met on my part. They have no needs, wants, desires to be handled whatsoever.

Oh, I wasnt encouraging handling in any way, I was merely pointing to the safest and most successful method to do it, as I misinterpreted your question to be one about handling. Sorry!
