My girlfriend's father was outside spraying chemicals around their house to get rid of a Box elder bug infestation when he found, and sprayed, this monster.

I took her inside, she was still responsive, and ran a little bit of water over her, in an attempt to hopefully get the chems off in time. 5 min later she was totally unresponsive to my touch. Figured she was good as dead. Well after the little photography session, I flip her on her back for one more shot of her underside, and she flips herself back over and gives me a nice threat with her legs! Was very shocking, as I was sure this spider was dead. Do you think she was playing dead?

btw, she's a little larger than a quarter.

Edit: She's sitting in an ICU right now and moving around quite readily, so I'm pretty sure she'll make it.

Perhaps the Insecticides (if thats what he was using) had lost its effectiveness on this species in your area, Either way, Spiders are reslliant and survivors and kudos to you for keeping her in ICU I hope she comeso ut will no ill effects

That's a nice looking spider, I thought it was a T from the underside shots.
It's a wolf spider right? Hope it pulls through, nice big abdomen, maybe she could be gravid? Really neat how the eyes shine in those pics.
