Due to the transport of ant queens across state lines being illegal the ant hobby in the US will probably never take off as it has elsewhere in the world. So that means no dealers...

Edit: If you do find someone to buy ant queens from have your contact off the forum(email).

i can supplied some, depending on where you live and if the species is native to your area. But becarefull, they are not easy to raise and it takes experence to raise a successful colony. Also catching queens are not easy at all since their nupitpal flight happens 3-4 times a year and are concentrated to an a very small area. I usually have them every year of different species but its limited.

I think ant colonies could be popular in the US, you just need dealers in every state, that way u don't go over state lines

Shh dont say that the USDA watches these forums keep it on the DL, though I think shipping queens within the same state is OK.

Hatari does indeed have a nice stock of material but Barney is quite particular about having all paperwork.

queens are easy to find!
just hike out into the woods and turn over alot of rocks or logs.u can often find queens ants under bark easily at certain times of the year aswell.
one trick ive used before is to go out hunting during the rain.often the whole colony can be under one rock.if u dont find the queen right away another method is to dig up most of the colony then transport it back home.then u can carefully sift thru and locate queen and collect workers, eggs, larvae ect..
i miss keeping ants.mabey i will set up a colony this summer :]
