Hello, I'm new here. I got my male and female jumpers on Thursday. My little girl finally ate last night, and the boy attempted but got intimidated, I offered him meal worms, and tiny crickets. He is in a very thick web, so I'm assuming he's going to molt. The little girl hasn't built a hammock yet, she's just hiding under a leaf in her enclosure most of the time. Should I be worried? I thought they build a hammock right away? These little cuties are my first, so I just want to make sure I am doing everything right. Thanks for any advice!

My Platycryptus undatus didn’t make a visible nest for over two weeks, and was mostly hanging out Under the fake flowers. And when a nest was made, it was to molt in. It was thin too. Yet, Perfectly healthy and happy. While regius and undatus are only related to the level of tribe, I don’t think it would be that different. Unless someone has had experience saying otherwise.

It can sometimes take them awhile to make themselves at home. My jumper did the same thing yours did, she slept in the flowers and plants in her enclosure. She eventually made a thin tent in one of the flowers and molted there. Afterwards, she found a place on the cork bark near the top of her enclosure and made a nice thick tent, but that was almost a month after I found her. Give your little one some time, they will find a place to put up their tent when they are ready.

Thanks everyone! She ended up making a little home under a leaf and she molted. She came out today and she's even more beautiful! The boy is still in his web and hasn't come out. He moves every now and then but that's about it. I guess all us new owners get worried, but these little guys know what they are doing :)
