is the red trapdoor a venomous species? if so my mom would be against buying one....

All spiders have and use venom to subdue prey, or at least I believe they do. Are they deadly or strongly toxic, no.

yeah im sorry i wasnt more specific. I just wanted to make sure that the red TDS wasnt harmful to people.

African red trapdoor venom

The bite of an African red trapdoor would most likely hurt very much as well as cause swelling and maybe vomiting, but probably won't kill you unless you are alergic to the venom.

from what I understand they are a rather defensive sp. and not to be trifled with either.
