I posted this Q. in the thread B.smithi been hiding. The question is this.
The pic attached is of my B.smithi. freshly molted, but does it look more like a flame knee?
If any one has a pic of a sub adult flame knee they could post here, I could compare the two. I've searched the net for pics, but haven't found one yet.

Thank You

William

Also, if you note on the segment following its knees, the yellowish "band" that is present in smithis but absent in the auratum is evident. That's a B. smithi, not an auratum.

so, they had auratum at the show? I saw the smithis but I did not really look at them. I did get a large supposedly female pulchra. the pulchra was in pre-molt when I got it and was looking ragged. I just went and looked and the pulchra is on its back getting ready to molt right now.

To add to the description thing... also on auratum as the pics show the segment down from the knee has a much smaller band than on smithi. Once you've seen them they are easy to tell.

So much smaller that I've never even noticed it before you said they had one (hence me saying they lacked it above). Then I checked out pics I've seen several times before...

When I got my B. smithi - large s'ling/small juvie, it looked just like yours. And just like you, I thought that it may have been mislabled. I too thought that it was B. auratum. But sure enough, it molted and WOW - B. smithi indeed.
