Amerry xmas to you all,
my nephila egg case that was produced on 9/11/02has hatched on the 22/12/02,the spiderlings seem quite big even at this stage, compared to my hatchlings of an African Argiope.

Congrats on the spiderlings, David. If you post a photo of the red-banded Nephila, I could try to help with the ID.

I can't find more pics of this nephila on the internet, I want to see more!
Wonder why they call it the red-banded...:D (why not yellow banded?)

Alex according to this site sexpunctata is from the americas not Ghana but there is no pic.
Nephilinae - ... Eickstedt (1989) revised the Neotropical nephiline species and recognized only three species in the Americas: Nephila clavipes (L.), N. sexpunctata Giebel, and ...

Hi TL, that is actually a true spider, not a tarantula :) An orb-web, genus: Nephila to be exact.
