Here are a few neat spiders I found over the weekend.


Dysdera crocata





Sorry about the ENORMOUS pic size, my computer illiterate self still cant figure out how to resize them:confused:

Anyone know what the 2nd one is?

hi, I´d say the first one looks more like Dysdera erythrina. My guess for the 2nd one is some Amaurobius sp.

From what I understood D. crocata was the only spp. within the Family that had been introduced to the U.S.

If I saw the third spider here in Italy I would said Trochosa sp....
But in Illinois.... I'll stop to wolf spider

The wolf spider I had thought was a Trochosa spp. as well. I found a few more in the same area with the more prominent median stripes on the cephalothorax.

Newest finds ID this spider?

I took the time to grab a few different spiders today when installing drift fences at a study site. Also found our target species, the not so arachnid like blue spotted salamander.



When I caught this I thought it was a young Dolomedes triton, but after seeing the close ups Im not sure what it is. Im guessing Pirata spp. Any ID help?
