So I had ordered some mantids recently, and got a free P. paradoxa. I was housing it with its sibling in a communal enclosure, (both were L1 siblings) when I checked them today to feed, and one was just laying there dead, with its sibling doing perfectly fine. Aside from the sibling missing a leg, its in perfect health, so why did this one die?

Mantids and molting are even more troublesome and reason for worry than molting and tarantula...:(

Did you handle the little guy? It is not a good idea to hold L1's, as it expends their energy far enough. If not, I would think this might be trauma from packaging or sudden molting, a bad molt happened to my orchid mantid and it died :(

Nah, I only opened their enclosure to feed/water
